Something that has always seemed a bit of an odd omission on the Nord is
that you can't use a knob to set sequence length with the note sequencers.
So I came up with this little patch to overcome the limitatiom:

Operation is pretty self evident. The LFO and event generator supply clock
pulses to two note generators. The upper one simply outputs the note values
2 - 17. These are compared to a constant, scaled by a gain controller. Is
effect, this note generator "tells" the setup what note is being played. A
simple comparison operator generates a pulse that resets the note sequencers
when the value reached by the top sequencer equals the value set by the gain
module, (controled, incidentally, by knob 3 in this case). Result: a
sequencer setup that can have its number of notes set by a knob. Just as a
proof of concept, I've tacked on the second melody sequencer with two
octaves of a major scale programmed in so you can hear the setup working.

This is a rather brute force approach, I know, but even this little setup
shows the possibilites. As uploaded, every pulse from the LFO is passed on
by the event generator. This can be thinned out to generate a rhythm. Also,
I have got quite complicated metrical/harmonic things going by removing the
reset link on the event generator, thus keeping the rhythmic pattern
constant while getting a different melodic fragment out.

I have also experimented with using a switch module to supply 4 different
reset codes from 4 constants, using a knob to switch between the "presets".
This is a bit easier to control than the knob offering all 16 possibilities.

Remember, this isn't a full patch as such, just a "proof of concept" type of
thing.

Somebody might find it useful.
